Our reasoning: Why we’re removing MMS automatic provisioning for all new customers
Please note: Existing customers will not be impacted by this change in policy.
From November 3, 2023, we’re removing the automatic provisioning of MMS from our plans for new customers (for now). However, customers can reach out to us and we will be happy to add MMS capability.
We understand that this change will be frustrating for those of you who use MMS. It rarely feels good to have to switch up the ways that you communicate with the people who matter to you. We did not make this choice lightly, but we believe it is necessary for us to meet the highest security and privacy standards.
Unfortunately, we have seen an uptake in MMS scam messages. Mobile scams continue to rise in Australia, with criminal gangs finding new ways to target everyday Australians through the use of MMS. As we cracked down on scams via SMS and URLs, scammers are now leveraging MMS to commit fraud and take control of your phone.
It’s for this reason we will no longer support MMS for new customers. For existing customers, we would recommend diligence and awareness of MMS scams.
At Circles Life Australia, we’re committed to ensuring that our customers are protected and that we protect our enviable security record. As we continue to focus on our customers, continuing to support MMS messages is inconsistent with our values and with what people expect when they sign up with Circles Life.
